Your business in brief?

Murapol has delivered 7,500 apartments to its customers to date. It is currently building 4,000 apartments, with another 20,000 planned. Our first foreign projects in Germany and the UK reflect our strategy to build an organisation of international scope.

An investment of 120 apartments will be built in Berlin and 230 apartments will be built in Zossen near Berlin. In Edinburgh, a total of 60 apartments will be built across two projects – on Ferry Road and London Road.

In 2016, the Murapol Group generated revenue of PLN236.85m (£49m) and net profit of PLN125.85m (£26m).

What will these projects involve?

The investment that will be built on Ferry Road will consist of 25 residential units with a total usable area of about 2,000 sq mt. We’re currently going through the administrative formalities stage ahead of receiving a construction permit, which is conditional for construction works to start. We expect this to happen by the end of the year.

As well as the project on Ferry Road, Murapol is also planning an investment on London Road, which will involve building 35 apartments with a total usable area of around 2,100 sq mt.

What appeals about the Edinburgh market?

In our opinion, Edinburgh is a city with enormous potential for real estate development. The capital of Scotland is not only a highly developed academic centre, but also an attractive labour market, offering some of the highest earnings in the UK. It creates a segment of the market interested in flats in small investments at prestigious locations. Our projects on Ferry Road and London Road will be of this kind.

These investments are the first of several planned in the UK and are part of our development strategy, which is focused on building a European-scale real estate developer in the next few years.

Murapol is headquartered in Bielsko-Biała, in southern Poland and is one of the leading real estate development companies in Poland.

What's the vision for your business in Edinburgh / Scotland?

The activities of the Murapol Group in the UK will certainly be expanded in the future with further investments. We’re planning to reach out of Edinburgh, and are interested in the southern part of the UK towards London. We’re impressed by the investment climate in the UK, with significantly less complicated administrative procedures than in Poland – as well as the goodwill of authorities and industry towards real estate development activities there.

Since we contracted the first plots of land in Edinburgh, the Scottish Property Federation has promoted Murapol as the first international investor to launch a real estate development project in Scotland. We appreciate the local authorities for their efficiency in regulating the administrative procedures related to our investments.
