Your business in brief?
Aberdein Considine was founded in 1981 by Harvey Aberdein and Iain Considine. We’re headquartered in Aberdeen, with 20 offices across Scotland and England including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Stirling and Newcastle.

I took on the role of managing partner four years ago and just prior to that we began expanding beyond the North East, through both acquistion and organic growth.
We have around 450 staff and we’re focused on providing full legal services for both commercial and private clients. We also provide financial services through our nationwide IFA network and we are Scotland’s largest solicitor estate and letting agent. Last year saw turnover hit £24 million.
What's the rationale behind the new office? How many staff will be based there?
We’ve been in Edinburgh for a number of years and the opening of our new legal office in Multrees Walk is a reflection of our confidence in and commitment to Edinburgh.
We’re building a national network of local services, with experts on the ground. We have 32 legal professionals in Edinburgh, specialising in everything from conveyancing, to family law, employment and corporate law, although we’re looking to grow this over the next few months.
We already have an estate agency in Lothian Road and earlier this year we opened a new property office in Elm Row offering residential, lettings and financial services.
We’re developing a cradle to grave, whole of life offering, from helping a first-time buyer to purchase their first home, through to setting up a business, writing a will or even handling a divorce and this new flagship office will simply enhance our ability to provide the best service possible.
What makes Edinburgh an attractive market for you?
Edinburgh is an obvious choice as a place to invest if you’re an ambitious, forward looking organisation. As well as being the country’s capital, it’s home to some of Scotland’s most dynamic industries and businesses including bio sciences, financial services, professional services, fintech, education and renewables.
The city was hit badly by the financial crisis, having been dominated by large banks and financial companies. However it has demonstrated its resilience and it remains one of the most attractive places in the UK to live, invest and do business.
What's the vision for your business?
We’ve expanded fairly quickly over the last few years, and our priority will be to continue to grow organically although we’re always open to different opportunities to enhance the services we provide.
Whilst we are ambitious and keen to grow, any investments we make, whether that’s in new operations, markets or acquisitions, have to complement our wider strategy.
We have a traditional philosophy but a modern approach to serving and supporting our clients and our size means we can provide them with both a personal service whilst having the strength of a national firm behind them.
