Marini opens ‘wine lovers’ bar hotel venture

A venue for ‘wine lovers’ has been unveiled in Edinburgh, as the latest hospitality offering prepared to open its doors.

Sep Marini, owner of the Tony Macaroni chain, has teamed up with Michele Zonin, vice-president of the Italian wine producing Zonin family, to launch The Wine House Hotel 1821.

We decided to create a place for wine lovers...We believe Scottish people are getting more interested in wine.

They have poured £500,000 into the venture in Picardy Place and hope to attract a clientele of corporate and wedding customers. It includes four bedrooms, a cocktail bar and a ‘wine library’ where customers can taste and learn about wines from an on-site sommelier. Most of the wines are from the family’s estates in Italy, the US and Chile...
