Our clients are forward-thinking and understand the benefits that fuel cells and hydrogen technologies can offer. To date, we have installed, commissioned and maintain fuel cells producing more than 1.1 megawatts of electric power (1.1 MWe) in the UK – which is more than 98% of the UK’s installed capacity.

We use fuel cells and hydrogen technologies to offer a full turnkey service – delivering system design, integration, installation, maintenance and finance. Logan Energy’s portfolio of clients spans leading commercial developers and government agencies.

What are your most important milestones?

Logan Energy designed, supplied and installed a state-of-the-art hydrogen-based energy storage system and two mobile hydrogen vehicle refuelling units at the Levenmouth Community Energy Project in Methil, Fife.

This project is a turning point in positively proving the case for hydrogen as a key clean energy solution. We’ve delivered at Levenmouth what many visionaries have been talking about for some time – and shown that hydrogen can be integrated into the existing energy systems for stationary power and transport needs.

The drive to increase our reliance on renewable energies isn’t new, but the economic need and urgency is growing. The work we’ve completed at Levenmouth is a true first and highlights the power of hydrogen as a standalone multisector energy resource that also supports existing energy networks. This is a milestone in the energy sector and marks the practical delivery of a new hydrogen-based energy era.

How does being based here help you?

Our office in Edinburgh city centre provides a very accessible base to reach clients all over the country and the world. Edinburgh is a buzzing, supportive and vibrant city that’s a great place to live and work.

The UK – and Scotland in particular – has a wealth of expertise in the energy sector. There’s massive potential to harness the skills and the innovative mindset that drove the growth of the traditional energy sector and bring that to the hydrogen and wider renewables sectors.

Logan Energy was founded in 2005.

What's the vision for your business?

With Scottish Government support, Logan Energy has helped the traditional service industry develop its existing skillsets to support this rapidly growing sector.  And – on the back of new global projects – we are set to build on this knowledge base and expand the business.

We’ve only scratched the surface of the potential for hydrogen technologies. We have ambitions to be the driving force in the development and implementation of hydrogen as part of the renewables mix.
