Sure Languages opening Edinburgh office

Published: 12 March 2018

Translation company Sure Languages is opening an office in Edinburgh this week to expand its growing business in Scotland. We spoke to Managing Director Paul Bickham…

Your business in brief?

Sure Languages helps clients around the world with translation, localisation and interpreting. From small firms and SMEs to global organisations and Silicon Valley disruptors, our clients trust us to render their brand language and tone in more than 130 languages.

Sure Languages helps companies that are trading internationally, growing overseas, or already multinational. As Edinburgh is home to many companies that fit these descriptions, it’s the perfect place for our second location.

Our company started back in 2007. From humble beginnings in the living room of one of the co-founders, Sure Languages has grown into a successful organisation with more than 700 human linguists and clients in 14 countries.

Our primary service is human translation, but we also help clients with face-to-face interpreting, transcriptions, subtitling and voiceovers. The latest addition to our suite of services is telephone interpreting. Our clients can connect with an interpreter within 30 seconds, 24 hours a day.

Sure Languages is opening a new office in the heart of the city on George Street.

What makes Edinburgh an attractive market for you?

Not only is Edinburgh a vibrant, dynamic, cultural and historic city, it also has the largest economy of any UK city outside of London.

Sure Languages helps companies that are trading internationally, growing overseas, or already multinational. As Edinburgh is home to many companies that fit these descriptions, it’s the perfect place for our second location. We’re really excited about it.

What presence will you have here?

Our new office is in the heart of the city on George Street. Initially our Scotland base will contain a limited number of staff, but as our company grows and we work with more clients in and around Edinburgh, we’ll recruit locally to expand our Scotland team. We’ve recruited a number of graduates from the University of Exeter translation masters degree into our Exeter office, so the translation masters at the University of Edinburgh is going to be a great source for local talent.

Sure Languages has grown into a successful organisation with more than 700 human linguists and clients in 14 countries.

What's the vision for your business?

In a nutshell, the vision is steady growth and expansion. We're proud to have become the go-to translation company for Exeter-based businesses; we plan to achieve the same in Edinburgh.

We understand there's some already well-established language service providers based in the city, and we’re not looking to step on any toes! For now, we’re just happy to support the growing Edinburgh economy with its translation needs, growing our client base, and continuing to provide a professional and personable service with the very best human linguists.
