We source over 2,000 permanent professionals every year and manage more than 5,000 contractors. And we work across sectors including technology, engineering, financial services, insurance, professional services, pharmaceuticals, retail, transport and utilities industries. Our objective is to be a long term, trusted partner that cultivates careers and builds businesses.
What makes Edinburgh an attractive market for you?
Edinburgh is a really exciting place to be if you’re in the tech sector. It’s one of the UK’s leading digital hubs, home to start-ups, small and medium enterprises and large corporates. It’s also growing rapidly, boosted by the UK’s largest tech incubator and inward investment, with an estimated 92% potential tech sector growth.
I’ve been based in the city for over 15 years and in that time I’ve seen the tech scene go from strength to strength. I can’t imagine it losing that buoyancy any time soon. For high-growth businesses, accessing the right talent at the right time is critical and I think this is where Lorien can add value.
We’re a specialist tech recruitment business first and foremost, but we’ve also been ingrained in the Edinburgh community since 2003 – so we’ve developed local expertise which is instrumental when it comes to identifying scarce skills.
What presence do you have here? What jobs or roles will be created?
We moved to Edinburgh in 2003 to support one of our clients with their growth in the Scottish capital. We now work with over 100 customers in Scotland and have sourced more than 7,000 temporary and permanent technology specialists to date.
The team has quadrupuled in size, spurring our move to a new office with the space for us to continue growing. As well as increases in our internal headcount, (we’re always on the lookout, and currently seeking a resourcer), we believe that our presence in the city will open up new doors for candidates looking to make the move to some of the country’s top employers.
What's the vision for your business?
Our vision is to be pioneers of change in the recruitment industry.
We want to revolutionise the way that businesses attract, engage and retain their workforce by reducing reliance on reactive candidate sourcing – focusing instead on new and emerging tools to unlock passive talent, proactive networking and real relationships with clients and candidates to map needs and ambitions.
