We opened our first UK restaurant in 1973 and now have more than 250 restaurants across the country, employing more than 8,000 people. We never sit still and continue to push the boundaries of the casual dining industry. Over the past five years, we’ve been undertaking the biggest change programme in our history.

The goal is to reinvigorate the brand to ensure we stay at the forefront of the casual dining industry. This forms part of a £60m refurbishment and restructuring programme funded through private equity investment from Rutland Partners. We believe that by investing in our staff, providing top quality service, delicious food and stand out décor, we can create meaningful and impactful connections with our guests and employees alike.
What makes Edinburgh an attractive market for you?
Edinburgh is one of the UK’s most vibrant and bustling cities. It offers a rich and diverse culinary experience and we’re proud to have a strong presence here. We have four Pizza Huts in the city which have all been refurbished to offer a welcoming and dynamic dining experience.
A great thing about our investment programme is that it has allowed us to appeal to a more diverse customer base. Not only are we seen as a day time destination for locals and tourists, we have become an attractive nighttime destination too. We’ve expanded our menu to offer cocktails and prosecco and the funky new lighting system really helps to draw customers in.
What's the rationale for this investment?
The investment in Edinburgh forms part of our nationwide refurbishment programme to completely reinvigorate the look and feel of our restaurant concept. At Pizza Hut Restaurants we believe this starts with investing in our people to ensure they have the skills and confidence to deliver a top quality customer service. As part of this we’ve introduced team training where enhancing the guest experience is the ultimate goal.
At the same time, we’ve introduced amazing stylistic features that really stand out to customers as soon as they walk through the door. This includes trendy wall art and a vibrant new lighting scheme. In some cases, we’ve also added booths that are perfect for families or groups of friends.
What's the vision for your business?
We are committed to Scotland – having refurbished two thirds of our portfolio here – representing a total investment of £4m. We’re also committed to supporting our staff to build a more skilled workforce and to help them thrive in the future.
Last year, we announced the launch of our Modern Apprenticeship programme in Scotland, with a commitment to create more than 250 apprenticeships over the next four years. This is in addition to our apprenticeship programme in England and our industry-first degree level apprenticeship with Manchester Metropolitan University.
Alongside this, all of our employees are able to benefit from industry leading training and development programmes that focus on teaching skills for life. Through our partnerships with Heartstyles and Mental Health UK, we want to give our employees the chance to focus on their emotional and behavioural development too. We believe our employees are our greatest asset and it’s only through them that we’re able to deliver a service that is second to none.
