Airport celebrates busiest ever January

Edinburgh Airport enjoyed its busiest ever January with 920,474 passengers - up almost 10% on the same month last year.

The domestic market grew 10.4% thanks to Ryanair restarting its Stansted route and launching a new route to Derry, easyJet's new service to Jersey and increased flights to London City by both BA Cityflyer and Flybe.

The international market increased by 9.6% with help from Ryanair's services to Seville, Tallinn, Berlin Schoenefeld, Stockholm Skavsta, Lisbon, Memmingen, Sofia, Riga and Hamburg.

Emirates launched a new daily service to Dubai, Hainan Airlines to Beijing, and easyJet to Seville, plus an increased Naples service.

Edinburgh recorded its busiest ever year in 2018 with a Scottish record of 14.3 million passengers...
