Amazon's new Edinburgh offices

US online retail giant Amazon has signed for a 31,364 sq ft office in the heart of Edinburgh’s financial Exchange District.

Amazon is moving to the first floor of 1-7 Conference Square at Edinburgh’s Exchange Crescent, a 218,366 sq ft office comprising a mixed use building arranged over seven floors close to Haymarket Railway Station. The building is also home to JLL in Edinburgh.

Henderson Global Investors, on behalf of German-domiciled property fund GB Immobilien Beteiligung, bought the building in 2009 from Standard Life Aberdeen for £52.25m, reflecting a net initial yield of 6.3%.

Amazon, which also occupies around 60,000 sq ft in Edinburgh at Waverleygate on Waterloo Place, is subleasing the space from Standard Life Aberdeen. According to Avison Young Edinburgh’s office market has had its strongest start to the year since 2016...
