More than 180,000 passengers are expected to use the new service in its first year of operation, which will be operated by A320 aircraft. This is the second new route that that the airline has announced from Edinburgh in a fortnight following the news that it will operate a twice-weekly winter route to Verona in Italy, with the inaugural flight due to take off in December.
The addition of the service to Birmingham doubles the connections that easyJet will now offer between Scotland and the Midlands. Last month it announced that it will fly a new service between Glasgow and Birmingham, which also launches on the 29th March operating 13 times a week.
There is a huge amount of business travel between Scotland and Birmingham, but also an awful lot of leisure travel, those who are visiting friends and family, travelling in both directions.Ali Gayward, UK country manager, easyJet

“So we're delighted to be able to commence these services as well which will operate pretty similarly to the new Glasgow route and fly from the end of March and operate double day during the week with a morning and evening rotation in each direction, with a flight on a Saturday and a couple on a Sunday..."
