Edinburgh leads the way in hotel room revenue

The average daily cost of a hotel room in Edinburgh topped £100 last year, according to a report.

The figures are contained in the inaugural Hotels Economic and Property Market Review from property consultancy GVA, which reported "impressive" figures for the hotel sector in much of Scotland in 2017.

The capital led the way with a 12.4 per cent increase in a year, in revenue per available room (RevPAR), a measure which factors in both occupancy and rate performance.

Average daily room rates (ADR) in the city were over £100 in 2017 for the first time, the report found.

The firm also found that hotel investment transactions north of the border exceeded £240 million last year, rising 69 per cent against the £142 million recorded in 2016...
