New £33m Capital sports centre ‘is world class’

Scotland's £33 million sports performance centre in the Capital has been described as “world class” ahead of its official opening on August 29.

Oriam, situated on Heriot-Watt University’s campus, will become the home of Scottish football and rugby, and will also cater for basketball, handball, squash and racketball.

The concept of a national centre was taken from the findings of the McLeish review into Scottish football.

The Scottish Government contributed £24m to the project, with Sportscotland, Heriot-Watt University and the city council providing the remaining £9m...
