The application for planning permission in principle includes construction of a hotel, restaurant and bar, conference facilities, parking, landscape works and associated development.
A statement prepared on behalf of Gogarbank-registered Flowpearl said the 200-bed hotel plans fits in the wider Royal Highland Centre masterplan and the strategic importance of the west Edinburgh business cluster which includes the airport, the RHC and International Business Gateway.
It said: “Given the significant market interest and overwhelming demand for hotel bedrooms generated by the City of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Airport, the International Business Gateway and the RHC, it is fully anticipated that, following detailed consent, construction would commence onsite in 2020.”
The statement said the building of the hotel would have “a positive impact on the construction sector economy”. It stated: “The hotel will generate 104 full time jobs onsite...and contribute £2m in GVA terms to the city economy on an annual basis...”
