University of Edinburgh reveals value to economy

The University of Edinburgh has shown its strength as a powerhouse of the Scottish economy. In its latest annual report, the university gives details of an institution with total income close to a billion pounds.

The internationally-acclaimed seat of learning brought in nearly £500 million in revenue from fees and grants in 2018. The total number of students was 41,312, including online distance learning, up from 33,110 in 2014. The university made over £312 million in tuition fees in 2018 plus over £186 million in funding from various funding authorities.
