University signs new partnership with Mercia Technologies

Technology investor Mercia Technologies Plc has signed a new partnership agreement with the University of Edinburgh to fund early stage companies.

Mercia, which specialises in financing and scaling-up UK-based technology companies with high growth potential, said its non-exclusive partnership provides it with access to Edinburgh Innovations, the University’s innovation management service which has established 189 new spin-out/start-up businesses in the past five years.

The partnership will see Mercia establish a presence at the university with a team of four initially with funds available to "deploy specifically for opportunities developed at the UoE". The company said: "This will be an important base for Mercia to both reach out to the leading research centres within UoE, importantly connecting to its five other Scottish university partners and more broadly, to other innovators and entrepreneurs across Scotland..."
