Edinburgh's Leith neighbourhood has been named the best place in Scotland to live in the Sunday Times's Best Places to Live 2020 guide.

Leith, Edinburgh's cosmopolitan waterfront neighbourhood, has been named the best place to live in Scotland in the Sunday Times' "Best Places to Live in the UK 2020" guide.

The Sunday Times praised Leith's eclectic mix of houseboats, Victorian sailor's homes, and former wine and tobacco warehouses repurposed as offices for startups, award-winning restaurants, and micro-distilleries. Other factors considered included the quality of schools, broadband speeds, and the quantity of green space. The neighbourhood is also affordable, with monthly rents averaging £850 and house prices £190,000.

“Leith is the sexiest place in the world and it’s the home of Hibs, the sexiest club on earth," said Irvine Welsh, author of the bestselling novel Trainspotting, who was born in Leith. "Of course people want to live there.”
