Major investment in the Port of Leith
Following a competitive process, Inch Cape has awarded a support contract to Forth Ports which will be delivered at Leith and Dundee.
Forth Ports has announced a £50 million investment in improvements to marine access, infrastructure, and vessel assets in Edinburgh's Port of Leith after winning a contract to help deliver the the 1.1 gigawatt Inch Cape offshore wind farm. The Port of Leith will be used to assemble the monopile and jacket foundations for the farm. The investment, which will create up to 50 new/upskilled jobs, forms the second phase of the wider 71-hectare (175-acre) Leith Renewables Hub project.
"Through our substantial contract with Forth Ports, Inch Cape is pleased to be the catalyst for a major infrastructure investment that will not only benefit our own project but also those Scottish projects that are to follow. The utilisation of these two east coast ports – Leith and Dundee – for our offshore construction, will also facilitate significant opportunities with our Tier 1 contractors for the wider Scottish supply chain.
- John Hill, Project Director, Inch Cape
The Port of Leith forms part of the wider Forth Green Freeport, which offers a suite of tax, customs, and other incentives to investors.
