Royal London's new office in Edinburgh moves forward
The project will consolidate Royal London's offices at Haymarket Yards and Waverley Gate into a single building.
Financial services giant Royal London has appointed Bowmer + Kirkland as the principal contractor for the delivery of its new offices in Edinburgh city centre.
The project will see two existing buildings at 1 Thistle Street and 2 Queen Street combined and refurbished to deliver a 10,000 square metre (108,000 square foot) office building housing up to 1,600 employees, with facilities including an auditorium, employee café, collaboration areas, roof terraces, cycle parking, and changing facilities.
The project team includes Morgan Architects (architect); Thomas & Adamson/Egis (project manager and quantity surveyor); Wallace Whittle (mechanical and electrical consultant); and Woolgar Hunter (structural engineer).
Works are set to commence imminently, with the new office expected to open in 2029.
"Royal London has deep roots in Edinburgh and this investment reflects our long-term commitment to the city and to creating a high-quality workplace for our people. We have deliberately chosen to transform and reuse the existing buildings rather than simply replace them. The result will be a high-quality modern workplace that respects the character of this important city-centre location while providing an environment designed around how our people will work and collaborate in the future."
Peter Josse, Group Chief Operating Officer, Royal London
