A selection of new arrivals to Edinburgh during 2022 is set out below. 

January

  • Borderlink Broadband (Duns, Scotland): broadband provider Borderlink Broadband (trading as GoFibre) announced the opening of a new office in Edinburgh as part of an expansion plan that will create 100 new jobs.

  • HUGO BOSS (Metzingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany): fashion retailer HUGO BOSS announced the opening of a 502 square metre (5,400 square foot) BOSS outlet in Edinburgh's St James Quarter.

  • Seccl (Bath, England): fintech company Seccl is to launch a new office in Edinburgh.

  • Jollyes (Waltham Abbey, England): pet shop chain Jollyes announced plans to open a new branch in Edinburgh in the first half of 2022. 

  • Levy & McRae (Glasgow, Scotland): litigation specialist Levy & McRae expanded into Edinburgh with the opening of a new office in the Exchange District.

  • Taco Bell (Irvine, California, United States): Mexican-themed restaurant chain Taco Bell is to open a new eatery on Picardy Place in Edinburgh city centre.

February

  • Heavenly Desserts (Derby, England): dessert restaurant chain Heavenly Desserts announced the opening of a new eatery at Fountain Park in Edinburgh's Fountainbridge neighbourhood.

  • Reward Finance Group (Leeds, England): business finance specialist the Reward Finance Group launched a new office in Edinburgh.

  • WHSmith (Swindon, England): stationer WHSmith announced the opening of a combined WHSmith and InMotion shop at Edinburgh Airport.

  • Apollo (Aberdeen, Scotland): engineering firm Apollo opened a new office in Edinburgh that will offer services across the wave, wind, tidal, hydrogen, and nuclear sectors, creating 25+ new jobs in the Central Belt over the next three years.

  • HMV (London, England): music, film, and game retailer HMV is to open a new flagship store on Princes Street in Edinburgh city centre in March 2022.

  • webuyanycar (Manchester, England): car buying service webuyanycar opened a new branch in the Fort Kinnaird retail park in Edinburgh.

  • Vertu Motors (Gateshead, England): Vertu Motors has opened a new car dealership, Macklin MG Edinburgh Newbridge, in Newbridge, West Edinburgh, creating 14 new jobs and two apprenticeships. The £5 million dealership will offer a full range of MG cars along with on-site EV charging, vehicle servicing, and aftersales support.

March

  • Corio Generation (London, England): newly-formed offshore wind farm developer Corio Generation, a subsidiary of the Macquarie Group, announced the opening of an office in Edinburgh. Corio Generation has a global project pipeline of 15 gigawatts.

  • Coach (New York, New York, United States): fashion retailer Coach announced the opening of a 292 square metre (3,140 square foot) outlet in Edinburgh's St James Quarter.

  • Oche (Oslo, Norway): darts-themed bar and restaurant chain Oche announced plans for a £3 million "gastro-gaming" venue at 80 George Street in Edinburgh city centre, creating up to 50 jobs.

  • AND Digital (London, England): digital consultancy AND Digital announced the opening of a second office in Edinburgh, creating around 100 new technology jobs.

  • Fujitsu (Tokyo, Japan): technology company Fujitsu announced the opening of a new 712 square metre (7,664 square foot) office in the Verdant building in Edinburgh's South Gyle Business Park.

  • Apadmi (Manchester, England): digital product agency Apadmi announced the opening of a new technology hub in Edinburgh city centre.

  • MrBeast Burger (Orlando, Florida, United States): delivery-only fast food chain MrBeast Burger is to open an outlet on Crewe Road South in Edinburgh that will offer deliveries via Deliveroo and Uber Eats. 

  • UserTesting (San Francisco, California, United States) technology firm UserTesting has established its European heaquarters in a 1,288 square metre (13,862 square foot) office on Exchange Crescent in Edinburgh.

  • Aeronautica Militare (Thiene, Vicenza, Italy): "slow fashion" retailer Aeronautica Militare - the official retail partner of the Italian Air Force - has opened a new outlet on the third floor of Edinburgh's St James Quarter.

  • Airport Retail Group (Sandefjord, Norway): the Airport Retail Group has opened an ånd womanswear outlet at Edinburgh Airport. The 75 square metre (807 square foot) shop will feature brands such as Barbour, Weekend Max Mara, and Whistles.

  • Agile Analog (Cambridge, England): technology firm Agile Analog - which develops bespoke analog IP products for designers in the semiconductor industry - announced the opening of a new engineering base in Edinburgh.

  • Dow Schofield Watts (Daresbury, England): corporate finance specialist Dow Schofield Watts launched a new office in Edinburgh.

  • KultraLab (London, England): technology firm KultraLab is to establish a "Product Hub" in Edinburgh, creating up to 25 new jobs in engineering and product development.

  • TOCA Social (London, England): TOCA Social announced the opening of a 2,787 square metre (30,000 square foot) interactive football and dining experience in Edinburgh's St James Quarter in 2023.

  • ClearScore (London, England): fintech company ClearScore announced the creation of an open banking centre of excellence in Edinburgh, creating over 100 jobs including software developers, data engineers, and data scientists.

  • FLANNELS (London, England): luxury retailer FLANNELS announced the opening of a new 2,230 square metre (24,000 square foot) shop on Princes Street in Edinburgh city centre.

  • Ping Identity (Denver, Colorado, United States): intelligent identity solutions provider Ping Identity established a new European hub for research and development on Melville Street in Edinburgh city centre. The hub will bring together teams across engineering, product development, sales, and customer success.

  • Claire's (Hoffman Estates, Illinois, United States) fashion accessories retailer Claire's is to open a new shop on Princes Street in Edinburgh city centre.

  • Hublot (Nyon, Switzerland): luxury watchmaker Hublot announced the opening of a shop-in-shop on George Street in Edinburgh city centre.

August

  • Lidl (Neckarsulm, Baden-Württemberg, Germany): supermarket chain Lidl opened a new shop on Glasgow Road in the Corstorphine neighbourhood of Edinburgh.

  • Dimoso (London, England): technology-focused communications agency Dimoso opened an office in Edinburgh.

  • H&M (Stockholm, Sweden) fast fashion retailer H&M announced that its brand COS would be opening a 695 square metre (7,483 square foot) in Edinburgh's St James Quarter.

  • NEOM (Harrogate, England) wellbeing brand NEOM announced the opening of a 56 square metre (601 square foot) shop on level two of Edinburgh's St James Quarter.

  • Alvarez & Marsal (New York, New York, United States): global management consultancy Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) opened an office in the Fountainbridge neighbourhood of Edinburgh.

  • The Alchemist Bar & Restaurant (Manchester, England) bar and restaurant chain The Alchemist announced the opening of a £1.5 million, 655 square metre (7,051 square foot), 185-cover outlet at 51 George Street in Edinburgh city centre in early 2023, creating up to 60 jobs.

  • Cubitts (London, England): affordable handmade spectacles company Cubitts has opened two new shops in Edinburgh city centre, one on York Place and the other on West Bow.

  • Ruby (Munich, Germany): "lean luxury" hotelier Ruby is to open a 300-bedroom hotel on Princes Street in Edinburgh city centre in late-2025 as part of a £100 million development that will create over 250 new jobs.

  • H&T Group (Sutton, England): H&T Pawnbrokers opened a new store in the Westside Plaza shopping centre in the Wester Hailes neighbourhood of Edinburgh.

  • BlackRock (New York, New York, United States): BlackRock - the world’s largest asset management company – has leased a 140,000 square foot office building on Brandon Street in Edinburgh. The company will relocate from its existing 86,000 square feet office on Semple Street in 2025 to support its expansion in Edinburgh.
