January

  • Outside in Garden Rooms (Glasgow, Scotland): luxury garden room supplier Outside in Garden Rooms opened a new hub in Edinburgh.

February

  • James Hambro & Partners (London, England): wealth management and financial planning firm James Hambro & Partners is to open an office in Edinburgh by April 2021.

  • TranSwap (Singapore): fintech company TranSwap, which provides a platform for cross-border payments, established a global research and development centre in Edinburgh. The R&D centre will create 54 jobs over the next three years, including developers, engineers, and product owners. TranSwap has established a research partnership with the University of Edinburgh and will initially be based in the Bayes Centre.

  • Black House Media (Lagos, Nigeria): public relations agency Black House Media has expanded into the UK with the opening of offices in Edinburgh and London under the banner "BHM Qomms".

  • Zedify (Cambridge, England): logistics company Zedify is establishing a new urban delivery hub in Edinburgh. The hub will re-mode parcels arriving in Edinburgh for delivering via e-cargo bikes and trikes.

  • Canada Goose (Toronto, Ontario, Canada): winter clothing brand Canada Goose is opening a shop on Multrees Walk in Edinburgh city centre

  • Home Bargains (Liverpool, England): a new 1,393 square metre (14,995 square foot) Home Bargains superstore is opening in Edinburgh's Hermiston Gait Retail Park

  • Mangata Networks (Phoenix, Arizona, United States): telecommunications company Mangata Networks is opening a new research and development centre in Edinburgh, creating 38 jobs.

  • Knowledge Train (London, England): professional services training company Knowledge Train opened an office in Edinburgh providing training in PRINCE2 and project management.

  • Gloria Jean's Coffees (Castle Hill, New South Wales, Australia): Gloria Jean's Coffees is opening a new café at 56 Shandwick Place in Edinburgh city centre

April

  • Praemium (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia): investment platform Praemium opened an office on George Street in Edinburgh city centre, creating 20 new jobs by the end of 2021.

  • Coco di Mama (London, England): talian takeaway Coco di Mama opened new branches in Edinburgh: one in the city centre and the other in Leith.

June

  • H&M (Stockholm, Sweden): fashion retailer H&M announced the opening a new shop in Edinburgh's St. James Quarter.

  • Craghoppers (Manchester, England): outdoor clothing retailer Craghoppers announced the opening of a new flagship store on George Street in Edinburgh city centre.

  • The Kooples (Paris, France): fashion retailer The Kooples announced the opening a new 130 square metre (1,400 square foot) shop in Edinburgh's St. James Quarter.

  • CRUX Asset Management (London, England): asset manager CRUX announced plans to open a new office in Edinburgh.

  • Miele (Gütersloh, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany): household appliances brand Miele opened a new showroom in Edinburgh's St. James Quarter.

  • Ferguson Planning (Galashiels, Scotland) Consultancy Ferguson Planning announced the opening of a new office on George Street in Edinburgh city centre.

  • Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult (London, England): Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, an independent centre of excellence focusing on cell and gene therapy technologies, announced the establishment of offices and laboratories at Edinburgh BioQuarter.

  • XBuro (Glasgow, Scotland): mechanical and electrical engineering consultancy XBuro opened an office in Edinburgh.

  • Orb Recruitment (Doncaster, England): recruitment agency Orb Recruitment opened an office in Edinburgh Park in West Edinburgh.

  • i3PT (Dublin, Ireland): construction certification specialist i3PT opened an office in Edinburgh.

  • Voyager Life (Perth, Scotland): CBD and hemp supplier Voyager Life announced plans to open a new shop in Edinburgh during 2021.

  • Anthesis Group (London, England): sustainability consultancy Anthesis opened a new office in Edinburgh.

  • Radley London (London, England): handbag and accessories brand Radley London is to open a pop-up shop in Edinburgh’s St. James Quarter from October to December 2021.

  • BDP (Manchester, England): interdisciplinary design practice BDP opened a new studio on Thirlestane Road in Edinburgh.
  • YO! (London, England): Asian street food brand Panku, part of the YO! group, has opened a new kiosk in a branch of Asda in the Leith neighbourhood of Edinburgh.

  • Reiss (London, England): fashion retailer Reiss announced it would open a new 184 square metre (1,978 square foot) shop in Edinburgh's St. James Quarter in December 2021.

  • Pizza Hut (Plano, Texas, United States): restaurant chain Pizza Hut is to open a new outlet in the Sighthill neighbourhood of Edinburgh. 

  • The Alchemist (Manchester, England): Cocktail bar and restaurant brand The Alchemist opened a new outlet in Edinburgh's St. James Quarter.

  • Duck & Waffle (London, England): Duck & Waffle is to open a 780 square metre (8,400 square foot) restaurant in Edinburgh's St. James Quarter in 2022.

  • Harrods (London, England): luxury retailer Harrods announced the opening of a new H beauty store in Edinburgh's St. James Quarter.

  • German Doner Kebab (Glasgow, Scotland): restaurant chain German Doner Kebab has opened its third outlet in Edinburgh in the city's St. James Quarter, creating around 40 new jobs.
